About Me

My name is Courtney Wilson. I am twenty-seven years old. After I graduated high school  in 2006, I attended California State University, Chico in Northern California. There, I studied Liberal Studies with a focus in Physical Education. I really enjoyed my time in Chico and learned a lot from great professors and my service learning teachers.

After graduating, my husband and I took a chance and moved to Thailand to teach internationally. In Thailand I spent my days teaching second grade/ third grade at an international school in Phuket called HeadStart International School. I really enjoyed my time there and the multicultural experience. However, something was calling me back to California. The dream to get my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential.

After our year in Thailand, I came back to California State University, Monterey Bay to get my credential. One year later, I had my credential and my own classroom at La Joya Elementary School in Salinas, California. I love my students and the community I work for. I am so lucky to find so many rewards daily in my job. I once heard someone say "How often do you get the chance to do something great?" When I heard that I thought to myself, I do, in my classroom, every single day!

When I am not in the classroom, I am usually rooting on the San Jose Sharks Hockey Team or Notre Dame Football. I love sports! If it is the off season, I am outdoors hiking, running, or spending time with my husband and pretending I love golf as much as he does! I have a cat named Marleau and we are planning on getting a dog in the next few months.

After spending the last four years in the Monterey Bay area my husband and I are moving up to Washington due to my husband's job! Although I am sad to leave La Joya, where I have been teaching at for the last three years, I am thrilled to begin a new adventure!
